Randoms on Friday

// Today is officially the start of spring break around here! My kids were so excited this morning and didn't even care that today was a makeup day at school. Taylor has her class Easter egg hunt and Carson was just happy to not have any tests!

Looking so cute her little seersucker maxi dress.

// I picked up the prettiest flowers and the tastiest rose this week at Whole Foods! If you haven't tried this sparking rose yet, I highly recommend you do so.

// Enjoyed a fun date night with Todd last night! We were both pretty tired so we decided to stick around the island and we ate at Dockery's.

What I wore

The dress runs tts, but I went up to a size small because I didn't want it too tight on my stomach and thighs.

I had the seared scallops and they were delicious!

// And last, because I've been receiving a lot of dm messages with questions about my recent outfits, here's all the links along with sizing and fit info.

Swing Tank (30% off) // Shorts // Earrings // Sandals

Tank runs tts, and for reference, I'm wearing the xs.

Dress runs short, and for reference, I'm wearing the xs regular.

Swimsuit runs tts, but like I do with most swimsuits, I sized up to a small and the fit was perfect!

Dress runs big and I'm wearing an xs (it was still loose).

Deck Spruce Up + Grandinroad Outdoor Favorites

Happy almost Friday!

The weather in Charleston was amazing yesterday and it looks like the warm sunshine is here to stay! This means lots and lots of outdoor time for me and my crew.

While our patio and front porch still look good (you can see that full reveal here), our side deck needed a little sprucing up. This time I made sure to spray down our pillows and cushions with this water and stain repellant spray

And y'all know I'm usually an all white kinda girl, but I am loving the darker navy cushions, especially with the fun pops of pink in our new pillows.

I can't wait to enjoy a good book and some rose in the evenings out here all summer long!

Hello Coco Door Mat // Tucker Side Table // Yorkshire 5-Piece Sectional Seating

This time of year has us all itching to plant pretty flowers and get our outdoor spaces looking just right, and man, if we had any other outdoor spaces to decorate I would be all over the new arrivals this season at Grandinroad!

I can't get over all the gorgeous pinks they have going on. And I'm thinking that these palm pillows would go perfectly with my striped umbrella :)

Love these beautiful, colorful planters.

Dying over these chippendale chairs.

I've also got good news for any of you looking to spruce up any of your outdoor space or spaces!  Right now, Grandinroad is offering $50 off of every $150 you spend! That could save you a lot of money, especially if you're planning on getting any new furniture this year.

A big THANK YOU to Grandinroad for partnering on this post.

Wednesday's Brain Dump

// I've been having the worst insomnia for the last month. No matter what time I go to bed these days it takes me forever to fall asleep, and when I do I still wake up at least two or three times a night. I have no idea where this is coming from, but by the end of each afternoon I'm riding the struggle bus! I've tried taking melatonin, cutting out wine, and using my sleep oils. That being said, if you guys have any tips for good sleep please send them my way!!

// I found the prettiest lace dress for spring and summer. It's by the same brand that makes my favorite lace dress (found here) that I have in two colors. I will say that the sizing runs a little bit bigger in this style. My other dresses are smalls so I ordered a small in this one, but I think the xs may have been a better fit.

// I can't believe Taylor is turning SIX in less than six weeks!! I would normally have her party all planned out by now, but she has changed her mind about what she wants to do and where she wants to have her party about a hundred times...ha! Before bed last night she told us she wants to have an ice skating party, so I think I better run with it and call today to book the ice skating rink. And with a quick Amazon search, I did find these super cute cups, plates, and napkins online :) And how cute are these cookies?!? I think I may try to make them myself, but I'm not sure mine will turn out this cute.

// Loft is having another big sale and right now the entire store is 40% off with the code EVERYTHING. I popped in the store yesterday to try a few things on, so I thought I would share a few of my favorites with you guys.

The store was pretty picked over and some of the things I really wanted to try like this top and this dress were sold out, so I'm going to place an order online today. To see everything I tried on yesterday, along with sizing and fit, you can click on my new tab "In the dressing room."

Flutter Swing Dress - Runs tts, and for reference, I'm wearing the xs petite.

The blouse runs tts and I'm wearing the xs regular. The shorts run tts and I'm wearing them in a 26 regular.

The peplum top runs tts, and for reference, I'm wearing the xs petite. The shorts run tts and I'm wearing them in a 26 regular.

// Spring break starts next week and I'm so excited about no early alarm clocks and spending some downtime with my kiddos. My parents asked to keep them for the first few days, so during that time I plan to finally get all of our clothes and all of their their toys organized. Both Taylor and Carson clearly hit a growth spurt this year, because none of their clothes from last summer fit.

I'm going to bust out my book, The Complete Book Of Home Organizing this week to get some ideas and inspiration for each room. Organizing seriously makes me so happy...anyone else feel this way?!?

This and That

Good morning and happy Monday, friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend because we sure did!

// On Friday, I headed back to Florence for a dentist appointment to pick up my mouth guard, because apparently, I grind my teeth pretty bad in my sleep. While I was in town I decided to stay with my parents and enjoy some time with them. We headed to an early dinner at Starfire, and afterwards my mom and I went to see Midnight Sun. We both really liked the movie, but warning, it was a major tear-jerker! And the reason we didn't go see I Can Only Imagine is because Todd really wanted to see that one, which we have plans to go sometime this week to see it.

// On Saturday morning, I got up early and headed home. I promised the kids we would make Easter sugar cookies, plus, we also had two parties to attend.

I think our cookies turned out really cute and they tasted SO good. I swear by this sugar cookie recipe. And this royal icing and these squeeze writer bottles made our job decorating them so fun. Carson is actually begging me to make more today so they can decorate more after school since we took all of these to our neighborhood block party.

Also, you can find the Easter cookie cutters we used here.

// Speaking of our neighborhood block party, the weather was perfect and we all had such a great time. And is it just me or do my kids look so BIG!?!?!

Maxi Dress // Cardigan (30% off) // Sunglasses

// After the block party, Todd and I had another adult only birthday party to go to at Bin 526 for our friend and neighbor, Sara. We all had a blast and tasted some of the BEST red wines. I wish I would've taken some photos of the different wines so I could share them with you guys. Next time Todd and I go back, I'll be sure to do that.

// On Sunday, the weather was pretty cold and nasty so we had the laziest family day ever, and it was SO nice! We ended the evening all piled in the bed watching The Greatest Showman. Todd and Carson had not seen it yet and they both thought it was awesome. On the other hand, Taylor and I were singing every word to all of the songs...ha! If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend watching, no matter how old you or your kids are.

// It's still pretty cold here today in Charleston so I'm making this white chicken chili tonight for dinner! It is super easy and everyone in our house loves it!

// Last thing I wanted to share are a few more goodies I grabbed for the kids Easter baskets. I ordered both of these off Amazon and they are both prime items if you are looking for anything last minute. Also, I got Carson this book and Taylor this one for their baskets as well.

Mexican Shredded Beef Instant Pot Recipe + Kitchen Favorites

Happy Thursday! I am so excited to share this Mexican shredded beef instant pot / slow cooker recipe with you all today. It was a huge hit at our house and both kids loved it. A one pot meal that my entire family will eat is always a win in my book!

And I can't say enough wonderful things about our new 9-in-1 Multipot . It truly can do it all from sautéing, slow cooking, pressure cooking, to steaming and even making yogurt. There is also a cake button on it, and I'm excited to look into that and see how it works. I will report back and let you all know how it works when I do.

  • 3-4 lb. chuck roast cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup onion diced
  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 6 garlic cloves diced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp Mexican oregano
  • 1/2 cup picante sauce salsa
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • cilantro for garnish
  • limes to squeeze over top
  1. In a bowl, combine cubed meat with chili powder and salt. Toss to coat.
  2. Press the "Saute" button on the Instant Pot and add the olive oil.
  3. Add in onions and saute until softened.
  4. Add in tomato paste, garlic, cumin and Mexican oregano. Stir for about a minute.
  5. Add in seasoned meat.
  6. Pour in salsa and beef broth
  7. Cover and lock the lid.
  8. Press "Keep Warm/Cancel" on the Instant Pot and then press the "Meat/Stew" button to switch it to the pressure cooking mode. Set cook time to 35 minutes.
  9. Let the pressure release naturally.
  10. Unlock lid and remove meat. Shred with two forks.  Use leftover liquid as a gravy if desired
  11. Add any additional salt and pepper if needed.
  12. Top with chopped cilantro and a squeeze of fresh lime juice.
Slow Cooker Instructions
  1. Brown meat before placing in slow cooker
  2. Place meat and all ingredients except cilantro and limes  into slow cooker.
Cook 4-5 hours on high or 6-7 on low in slow cooker

And after seeing the results on the Instastory poll this morning, it looks like you guys want to see some of my kitchen favorites! That being said, I am super excited to share them with you guys! Some of these items are real game changers and will make your life in the kitchen much easier.

Anolon Advanced Bronze Hard Anodized Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set

These pots and pans are AMAZING!!! Nothing, and I mean nothing sticks to them...they cook your food evenly, and best part, you can toss them right in the dishwasher!
These knives are definitely an investment piece, but I promise you they are well worth the money. Not to mention, you will never have to buy knives again because these last forever with their lifetime warranty. But, if you're not looking to drop $200.00 on a set of knives now, I would recommend getting this one to start with.

I love these little bowls and I use them for so many things. Meal prepping (as seen above in my recipe photo), the kids fruit, dessert, and salsa are just a few examples.

Mueller Spiral-Ultra Multi-Blade Spiralizer

This spiralizer has become one of our favorite kitchen gadgets. It's easy to use and works so well, and the best's only $27!! Taylor loves to help me make "zoodles" and grate cheese with it.

Dishwasher safe, great price, great quality, and also pretty to look at. I've had mine for over a year now and they are still in perfect condition.

Cambridge Silversmiths Walnut Handle Copper Pvd 7 Piece Gadget Set

This may just be one of my favorite kitchen purchases ever. Not only is this the prettiest set of gadgets I've ever seen or bought, the quality is also outstanding.

All-Clad Stainless-Steel Measuring Cups & Spoons

My mom bought me this set for Christmas about five years ago and they still look brand new. This is another one of those things that you only have to buy once and it will last forever.

This wine opener is so easy to use, and plus, it's such a great price! Plus, y'all know I love the color :)

My marble salt and pepper bowls are one of the most asked questions I get on Instastories. The ones I have are from Pottery Barn as well, but they are sold out. This is the newest version that came out this season and I love it just as much as I do mine.

Williams Sonoma Goldtouch® Nonstick 6-Piece Essentials Bakeware Set

Last, but not least is this bakeware set. Hands down the best set you will ever own, and right now they are on major sale. You don't even have to spray these with non-stick spray or anything. And your muffins, cakes, and cookies will come out and off the pan smoothly and perfect every time.

I hope this was helpful and I hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!

PS - If you didn't see my post yesterday and you are a North Face fan, then definitely check it out here. The sale prices are so good, and so are the colors and styles!
