Low Country boil........

Happy Monday morning! Currently it's 5:15 am...........I know, what the hell?!? So, I made a promise to myself to get up at this time to write, have my coffee, and enjoy some silent me time. Have mercy, it's hard to get out of the bed though. I am still over here rubbing my eyes. I know when my babies wake up in about 30 minutes I will feel so much better that I don't have to scram to get a post written and I will already be wide awake for my day. Does anyone else do this, or I am crazy?

This weekend we had our first of many low country boil parties. Todd got a new outdoor cooker for Christmas and he is itching to use that thing. But the only recipes we know are either fried or this one, so I see a lot of corn, sausage, and shrimp in our future.
here is the recipe that we used, so delicious and so easy.

Ingredients
Crab boil, 2 teaspoons per quart of water
12 red new potatoes
6 (4-inch) smoked sausage link sausage
6 ears corn
3 pounds fresh shrimp, unpeeled
Directions
Fill a large pot with enough water to cover all of the ingredients. Add the crab boil and bring to a boil. Adjust the crab boil to suit your taste. When the water boils, add the potatoes and sausage. Cook on medium heat for 20 minutes. Add corn and cook for an additional 10 minutes. Add shrimp and cook for no more than 3 minutes. Drain and serve with warm bread.
Umm, how cute is this for a birthday party? I love this one. I am thinking I could totally glam this up for Taylor's number 2.

Ok, back to the party. We invited 8 of our closets friends and their kids, and had an absolute blast. I whipped up a cheese and meat board for the appetizer and s'mores for dessert. The kids ate nuggets, strawberries and goldfish. By far the easiest dinner party ever!
(I had a few request for what I used on my cheese and meat board, so I will do a post later in the week on that).

After we had a few cocktails and stuffed our face, we busted out the funniest card game I have ever played. (Of course I cant remember the name of it, but I'll get that for you). I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long time, it was good for the soul, just not for the head the next morning ;)

  1. I'm up too sista! I like to get up at 6:30 and have my coffee, breakfast, and shower before my kiddos hurricane comes thru (because that's literally how I feel when they're awake!). Have you ever tried that boil on the stove in a pot? Wondering if it would work? Would you do a post on your kitchen furniture/sources? I've loved your new kitchen table area ever since you changed it up!

THANK GOD they both sleep in so I can attempt to keep this schedule. I need to lose this baby #2 weight and I feel so much better and not as stressed! Gonna have to try that boil!
